Spring Appeal 2021
Dear Oakton Community,
Spring is here, offering a burst of hope, growth, and the promise of renewal! This school year has been a trying time for all of us in many ways, and we are proud that the Oakton PTA has been consistent in our efforts to support our school community and reinvent the ways in which we can do so together. Although we have not been able to provide the in-person community-building events and services we have all come to enjoy and depend on, the PTA is funding many other important projects and ideas this year; the school garden, upcoming capital projects (think library refresh and streetside mural), parent cafe with paid training opportunities, teacher appreciation, just to name a few! Plus many other district-wide initiatives we have been fundraising for and participating in collectively. It is hard to envision at times, but the funds we collect this year will be part of our budget for next school year, just as this year’s funds were from last year’s efforts.
While we are so grateful for the fundraising we have been able to do thus far, and applaud all the creative efforts to do so, this springtime appeal (below) is going to look a little different… Rather than add more virtual events to your calendar or ask students to sell anything right now, we would like to conserve our people power and keep everyone as safe as possible. Please circulate this to all family and friends who wish to support our beautifully diverse, tight-knit, unique school with a donation of any size! We appreciate you and look forward to all that is to come for our beloved Oakton School. Hope to see you at the next PTA Community Meeting!
Please “Donate Now” to make a donation via Paypal or send a check by mail to Oakton PTA 436 Ridge Ave, Evanston, IL 60202
___ $15 I do not want to bake, so here is the money we would have spent on those cupcakes for a bake sale.
___ $25 I do not want to sell anything to my friends, family, neighbors and co-workers, so here is the money/time I would have spent buying and delivering wrapping paper.
___ $50 I do not want to add to our collective Zoom fatigue right now, so here is the money I would have paid to “attend” a virtual fundraiser.
___ $75 I already have purchased all the Cougar spirit wear we can fit in our closets, so here is the money I would have spent getting our Oakton pride on.
___ $100 I wouldn’t have been organizing much for the school anyway this year, so here is some cash to buy myself a free pass.
___$500+ I can give more this time around, just please don’t ask me to attend any virtual fundraisers for a while!
$__ I am making this donation to express my appreciation for having nothing to buy, sell, or do except make this financial contribution.
