Many backgrounds, one student body
Diversity is embraced and celebrated at Oakton through our programs, events and community gatherings. Our diverse student population makes our many multicultural gatherings — from Kwanzaa to Día del Niño — truly enriching, while our annual fund raisers always draw crowds from our surrounding community.
Our older students look forward to the Battle of the Books challenge each year, in which students compete to read the most books. Spanish-speaking students participate in Desafio de los Libros, the Spanish version of this event. Teachers also formally invite caregivers once a month for Family Friday, an opportunity for adults and children to spend time reading together in the classroom.
