Bullying has become an increasingly hot topic among youth, parents, and our community at large. There are so many pieces that parents and guardians need to be aware of to help their children through bullying and conflict at school. Response staff will detail how to identify the difference between conflict and bullying behavior, how to empower your child resolve conflict or be an upstander to bullying. We will also facilitate a community conversation around how to foster empathy among all students and provide parents will a tools to have discussion around these topics at home.
In the days following this meeting Response staff will be facilitating bullying prevention programs with 3rd– 5th graders at Oakton School. In those sessions we will have a discussion similar topics to those touched on at the parent meeting, which is why we encourage you to join us so that you can continue the conversation at home.
