Whether you would like to volunteer for a leadership position, or simply spend a few hours a month in your child’s classroom, there is a volunteer position for you at Oakton! From the restoration of our auditorium’s mural to Story Store, many of our school’s greatest programs and initiatives are because of parents like you. We value your time and effort and will work to match a need with your schedule. Please email Becca Gruenspan at rebgruenspan at gmail.com more information on any of these opportunities.
Some of our standing volunteer opportunities:
Story Store
Story Store is open to Oakton students every Friday during students’ recess periods (these run from roughly 11:00am to 1:30pm) starting in mid-October. (We have clean-up and organization volunteer days in September). We need volunteers to run Story Store during this time! This opportunity works best for stay-at-home and work-from-home parents, and involves getting to know the school, teachers, and students. Contact Andreia Lando at andreialando at outlook.com.
Chess Club
The PTA sponsors a free chess club at 8am on Wednesdays in the library, starting next week. We always need parent volunteers to help direct the kids and keep them on task! Contact Neal Coleman at coleman.neal at gmail.com.
